The Melbourne Cup has been run and won – Verry Elleegant storming home to hand Chris Waller his first win in the big race. The connections of Verry Elleegant celebrated into the night after claiming the prestigious trophy. Sky News Australia discussed the issue with Melbourne Reporter Drew Jones who said there were no horse tragedies after this Cup like has been had over the last seven or eight years. "But a couple of little niggles coming out of the Cup – the raging hot favourite Incentivise who ran second ... had a swollen right leg," he told SKy News AUstralia. Mr Jones said Incentivise will be assessed by vets over the coming days but is expected to make a full recovery. Horse Tralee Rose was able to finish the race despite copping a knock on the leg beforehand – with vets to assess over the coming days but a full recovery expected.
