Australia's top health officials are considering scrapping the requirement to isolate for household contacts of positive COVID-19 cases. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee is discussing whether to relax the seven day isolation rule for asymptomatic close contacts. Victoria and New South Wales officials are working on a proposal which could see asymptomatic close contacts who have received a booster be allowed to attend work. The plans would see a similar set of exemption arrangements as those made for teachers, nurses and food distribution workers in January at the height of the staff shortages crisis.
