Partner at Mitry Lawyers Richard Mitry says if either actor Johnny Depp or his ex wife Amber Heard wins the defamation trial, a “very hefty damages bill” will be expected following the result. The trial centres around an op-ed in the Washington Post by Amber Heard, where she didn't name Mr Depp but claimed that she was allegedly representing domestic violence. Mr Depp is suing Ms Heard for $US50 million, and the actress is countersuing her ex for double the money of $US100 million. “Unless both parties lose, there’s a good chance that we’ll see a damages bill run into the tens of millions,” Mr Mitry said. Mr Mitry discussed the jury trial with Sky News Australia.
