Prince Charles has expressed his personal sorrow over the enduring impact of British colonialism and slavery at a meeting of Commonwealth leaders in Rwanda. He also addressed the issue of Commonwealth members cutting ties with the Royal Family. “I want to acknowledge that the roots of our contemporary association run deep into the most painful period of our history,” he said. “I cannot describe the depths of my personal sorrow at the suffering of so many.”
