Musical Director John Foreman says the uniqueness of Olivia Newton-John's voice is what made the Australian icon stand out as a musician. The singer died aged 73 at her ranch in California after a long battle with cancer. “There aren’t many artists where you can just sort of imagine the sound of their voice, and it’s there instantly,” he told Sky News Australia. He said Ms Newton-John's role in Grease was a “breakthrough” for the singer and Australians on the world stage being “recognised in that way”. “She ... always had that unique quality of being able to tell a story through her music.”
