Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been given permission to marry his long-term partner from his London prison. FiancĂ©e Stella Moris tweeted the application to Belmarsh prison was recently accepted. “I am relieved but still angry that legal action was necessary to put a stop to the illegal interference with our basic right to marry,” she posted. Mr Assange has been held in the high-security prison for over two years. A UK court is considering a request from the US to extradite him to face espionage charges and, if convicted, Mr Assange may face a 175-year prison sentence. Multiple human rights groups have denounced Mr Assange's treatment and claim he is being punished for exposing the crimes of the powerful.
