Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been given permission to marry his long-term partner from his London prison. Fiancée Stella Moris tweeted the application to Belmarsh prison was recently accepted. “I am relieved but still angry that legal action was necessary to put a stop to the illegal interference with our basic right to marry,” she posted. Mr Assange has been held in the high-security prison for over two years. A UK court is considering a request from the US to extradite him to face espionage charges and, if convicted, Mr Assange may face a 175-year prison sentence. Multiple human rights groups have denounced Mr Assange's treatment and claim he is being punished for exposing the crimes of the powerful.
